Jurassic Lounge, one of Sydney’s most iconic after-dark cultural experiences, is returning to the Australian Museum on Saturday 26 September for an adults-only night of dress-up, live music, spooky performances, and, of course, science.

Jurassic Lounge: What’s On Offer

Now in its 15th year, this iconic party invites attendees to kick their spooky season off early with a silent disco beneath the dinosaur skeletons; a live conversation with Australian Museum scientists exploring the bloodsuckers of the animal kingdom, hosted by Award-winning entertainer Brendan de la Hay; and a Spooky Science Show with educator Jenny Lynch.

Jurassic Lounge attendees will also be able to enjoy drag, burlesque, and DJ performances (ft. Sexy Galexy, Lou P Scarlet, and Justin Rynne); a Splatter and Sketch workshop with artist Celia Curtis; the Best Dis-Dressed competition, with prizes for the most fabulously frightful looks; as well as an assortment of pop-up bars and delicious street food ranging from dumplings to tacos to burgers.

As for those who have a taste for the exclusive, a new “Pre-Party Experience” will be available this year, offering guests rooftop cocktails, canapés, city views and a special performance from Sydney drag royalty before the doors even open.

“The best museum experiences leave you feeling curious long after you’ve walked out the door,” Australian Museum Director of Museum Experience & Engagement Richard Dilly said.

“Jurassic Lounge takes that idea and wraps it in great music, incredible performances and a huge sense of fun. Fifteen years on, it continues to bring together a community who might never have imagined spending Saturday night at a museum.”
