Vivid Sydney is the annual festival that transforms the city into a dazzling display of art, innovation, and technology.
At the heart of Vivid Sydney is Vivid LIVE, the centrepiece of the Sydney Opera House’s contemporary music program. Curated by the Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall, Vivid LIVE will showcase some of the most boundary-pushing artists, musicians, and thinkers of our time.
“Vivid LIVE is a chance for the Sydney Opera House to showcase the very best in contemporary music and performance,” says Marshall. “We’ve curated a program that will challenge and delight audiences, bringing together artists who are pushing the boundaries of their craft.”
In addition to the high-profile international acts gracing the main stages, Vivid LIVE shines a spotlight on the vibrant local music scene. The intimate Utzon Room has become a key platform for up-and-coming Australian artists to share their talents.
Western Sydney’s hip-hop scene has given us no shortage of breakout acts in recent years – and Cult Shφtta just might be one of its best. Since emerging in 2018, the duo – rapper, E11even and hypeman, lilgolo – have blown up with their eccentric Y2K fashion, electric stage presence and eclectic tracks.
Their performances at major festivals and supporting iconic artists have cemented their status as one of the most exciting new voices in Australian hip-hop.
Vv Pete first started making waves in the Sydney hip-hop community as a teenager, impressing listeners with her lyrical prowess and commanding stage presence. She quickly caught the attention of influential crews like OneFour and labels like Trackwork, who recognized her immense talent.
Her 2022 debut single, “Bussit” was a breakout hit, earning her a spin on the legendary New York radio station Hot 97 and placement on the hit Netflix series Heartbreak High.
With her dynamic flow, bold fashion sense, and eclectic musical palette, Vv Pete has established herself as one of the most vital and captivating new voices in Australian hip-hop. Explosive live performances at festivals like Listen Out Festival and SXSW Sydney have only further cemented her reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
“I am so honoured to be performing at Vivid Live. It is a living manifestation,” Vv Pete told City Hub.
“My music is more global. I don’t stick to just one genre, and with my stage aura and presence, I think my overall unique style and sound fits Vivid.”
