Man and five youths arrested for alleged assault on delivery rider in Glebe

An 18-year-old man and five youths have been arrested following the assault of a delivery rider in Glebe.

Officers of Leichhardt Police Area Command arrested a group including children and teenagers following inquiries after an assault was reported at 1am on Monday, April the 15th.

The rider was allegedly assaulted while attempting to drop off a delivery by a group of youths who had managed to flee the scene before the police could arrive.

Disturbing footage of the scene reveals the youths shouting “get him now” as they attack the delivery rider.

Police confirmed on Thursday that an 18-year-old man and five children had been arrested.

The 18-year-old was charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.

He was refused police bail to appear before Newtown Local Court on Thursday.

Since April 17, police have also charged a 17-year-old boy, 16-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy over the incident.

A 12-year-old boy and girl were also arrested but were too young to be charged. They are set to participate in youth conferences at a later date.

Three of the five youths ages 14-17 were all refused bail and will appear before a children’s court.
