Full Cast Revealed for Les Misérables Arena Tour in Australia

The full cast for Les Misérables The Arena Spectacular has officially been announced ahead of its five-week Australian tour. The blockbuster production will begin in Sydney on April 30 at ICC Sydney Theatre, before heading to Melbourne on May 14 and Brisbane on May 28.
The cast features some of the biggest names in musical theatre. Alfie Boe and Killian Donnelly will share the role of Jean Valjean. Michael Ball and Bradley Jaden will alternate as Javert. Matt Lucas returns as the mischievous Thénardier, with Australia’s own Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier.
International star Rachelle Ann Go joins the cast as Fantine. She’s known for her roles in Miss Saigon, Hamilton, and Les Misérables in London’s West End.
Local Australian Kids Cast in Key Roles
British performer Shan Ako has been cast as Éponine. She earned praise for the role in the 2020 staged concert of Les Misérables, which was broadcast in cinemas globally. She also starred as Eliza in Hamilton on the West End.
Eight Australian children will join the cast for the Arena tour. They will rotate in the roles of Gavroche and Little Cosette. Playing Gavroche are Christopher Joseph, Sebastian Sero, Orlando Steiner, and William Steiner. Sharing the role of Little Cosette are Samara Coull-Williams, Violet Massingham, Scarlett Sheludko, and Alexandra Szewcow.
The Arena Spectacular marks the 40th anniversary of Les Misérables. It’s been designed for large venues and features dramatic visuals by Matt Kinley, lighting by Paule Constable, projections by Finn Ross, and sound by Mick Potter.
“This is the most spectacular arena production of a musical ever staged,” said producer Cameron Mackintosh.
Extra Shows Added After Surge in Ticket Demand
Due to high demand, extra performances have been added. Sydney will now also host shows on May 10 and 11. Melbourne gets two more performances on May 24 and 25. Tickets are on sale at lesmisarenatour.com.au.
The Arena Spectacular has already played to sold-out arenas across the UK and Europe. The Times called it “a blockbuster on steroids.” The Telegraph said the production “marches on.”
Joining the already star-studded cast are Jac Yarrow as Marius, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette, James D. Gish as Enjolras, and Earl Carpenter as the Bishop of Digne. Carpenter is best known for his portrayal of Javert in previous Les Misérables productions.
The show features the beloved score by Boublil and Schönberg, including songs like I Dreamed a Dream, Do You Hear the People Sing?, On My Own, and One Day More.
Seen by over 130 million people in 54 countries and 22 languages, Les Misérables remains one of the world’s most celebrated musicals. Its West End production is still running and will mark its 40th anniversary in October.
