Zombieland: Double Tap

Strangely the sequel to 2009’s sleeper hit, Zombieland, comes lumbering its way into cinemas 10 years later.

Although 10 years have passed in our world that is not the case in the Zombieland universe. When Zombieland: Double Tap opens we’ve only progressed forward in time slightly. Our core protagonists Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) have made a home for themselves inside the White House. Outside of these walls though the world has become more dangerous thanks to a newly evolved form of zombies, which they’ve affectionally named T-800’s. Inside the walls though the group also faces some difficulties of their own as Little Rock & Wichita begin to feel suffocated by their male companions, thus fleeing and kicking into motion a reunion tale.

Along the way, the team encounter ditzy survivors, who have someone survived based on sheer luck. A group which are mirror images of themselves, a commune of pacifist hippies, and of course horde after horde of zombies.

By arriving so long after the original new fans may find it difficult to dive into the sequel. They should rest assured though that the references and callbacks, whilst plentiful, are left to the fringes and thus do not hinder the enjoyment of the plot for new viewers.

Zombieland: Double Tap is very much a fan service sequel which provides enough fun without overly complicating the lore.
