Melbourne’s Famous Wine & Cheese Fest Set to Smash its Sydney Debut

After 12 delicious years, Melbourne’s famous Wine and Cheese Fest will make its long anticipated debut in Sydney this Saturday. The festival, celebrated for its artisan cheeses, world-class wines, and all-inclusive masterclasses, will take over Carriageworks on April 12 from 12-8PM.

This triumphant day for Sydney’s wine and cheese-lovers is set to be bustling, with ticket allocations already exhausted four full days ahead of the festival.

Festival-goers will enjoy unlimited tastings of Australia’s finest whites, reds, and blues (blue cheeses that is). Meanwhile, boutique producers across NSW and Victoria will be offering their own treats. Among the moorish nibbles and bustling crowds, street performers will rove the grounds alongside host DJs spinning live music.

For the “life-long learners” among the lucky ticketholders, interactive workshops with expert winemakers, cheesemakers, and sommeliers will give festival-goers a chance to get their hands dirty and see how the experts make (and marvel at) these artisanal crafts.

“It all started back in 2014, with one idea,” reads the Wine and Cheese Fest website, “Let’s bring the best local wine and cheese makers together under one roof—and throw a festival that’s actually fun. Not another stuffy wine-tasting. Not just another Farmers Market. But something vibrant, flavour-packed, and full of personality.

“Since then, we’ve grown into one of Melbourne’s favourite annual events—celebrating small-batch producers, hidden gems, and the joy of discovering something new (and tasty) with friends. From rustic reds and creamy bries to live tunes, grape stomping comps, and interactive masterclasses, there’s something for every kind of foodie, sipper, or curious explorer.”

To avoid over-crowding, the festival will run in two sessions, a midday session from 12 – 3:30pm, and an afternoon session from 4 – 7:30pm. Though tickets are officially sold out (alas, wine and cheese does not grow on trees), eager would-be attendees are encouraged to keep an eye out for an official announcement from Carriageworks.

No doubt Wine and Cheese Fest is delighting in the enthusiastic turnout, and will rise to meet Sydney’s demand for the region’s best wines and cheeses next year.
