THEATRE: STORIES FROM THE 428

THEATRE: STORIES FROM THE 428

What do you get out of sitting on the bus? Is it drab and dull or do you indulge in fantasies? Stories from the 428 combines four directors, two weeks of performances and eight of Sydney’s most talented writers, to tackle these questions. This local theatre project was conceived by Augusta Supple. Her strategy: to meet the writers at the 428 Circular Quay bus stop, travel to Marrickville, then have them turn in a script inspired by the journey within 24 hours. Sydney writer Tahli Corin was instantly captured, “I think transit and public transport is such a rich source of inspiration and stories, it seemed like a perfect idea.” She found, “It was really nice to be involved in a communal creative project.” Despite the fact that the writers all used the same bus-trip as inspiration Corin assures that the performances are incredibly diverse in style and content. Plus, they combine the work of some of Sydney’s top creatives including: Matt Edgerton and Zoe Carides. A must-see for sure!
