THEATRE: STOCKHOLM

Love is never simple. Relationships are never all they seem. Australian actors Socratis Otto and Leeanna Walsman play Todd and Kali, a blissfully happy couple living together in their own delightful world of love and lust. They are preparing for a holiday to Sweden’s capital, Stockholm. But on the eve of their trip, it becomes less likely to happen as the pair’s relationship explodes and reveals a terrifying mix of cruelty and dependence.  Just like the psychological condition that bears the city’s name, the pair hold each other captive in a tangled web of desire and mistrust that neither one can escape. Stockholm is a powerful exploration into a couple’s infatuated, destructive relationship. Its unique mix of dance, music, design and text is a perfect match for the passionate, obsessive love that twists and curls and ultimately unravels before the audience. A collaboration between the Sydney Theatre Company and Britain’s Frantic Assembly, Stockholm’s razor sharp, innovative production promises to captivate audiences with its blend of high emotion and physicality, and spectacular psychological journey into passionate, obsessive and destructive love.
