THE WHARF REVUE: DEBT-DEFYING ACTS

Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe, Phillip Scott and their trusted brand of laugh-out-loud political satire are back for the 11th year running, with The Wharf Revue: Debt Defying Acts.
Luckily there’s been no shortage of material on offer and we decided on the travelling circus-type theme,” says Biggins.
It covers the usual range of suspects, everyone from Tony Abbott to Bob Brown, Gina Reinhart to Murdoch of course.”
There’s also Kristina Keneally as an ex-lead performer at the burlesque; Fred Nile as a western thunderbolt preacher; Kevin Rudd as the Phantom of the Opera; and Clover Moore as a Wizard of Oz witch.
“You exaggerate the traits and personalities of these people and you can go wherever you want with them,” says Biggins.
Biggins, Forsythe and Scott write and perform the political sketches each taking on many of the different characters that have shaped this year’s political landscape. They are joined by Amanda Bishop.
So, what’s the message from this year’s political circus? “Defy gloom and doom and have a laugh. And try and recapture that Australian spirit of never taking anything too seriously,” says Biggins.
