SYDNEY FRINGE: THE DEATH OF ALBATROSS

The Death of Albatross is one of the many goodies theatergoers can catch as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival. The comedy drama is set in an abandoned town called Albatross where the only two couples left are not on speaking terms. A young bureaucrat is trying to convince them to sell and they need to decide whether they can put their past aside and save their town. I spoke with playwright and producer Laura E Goodin. “It’s a play about of things that hold us back from moving on to our new phases of life,” she explains. “The actors are going to struggle to keep it together because they’re always cracking up in rehearsal.” The play draws on experience and enthusiasm and uses props to convey jokes within the plot. “I’m hoping audiences will have a great time with a script that makes them not only laugh but also think about what they cling to and consider what are the most important things to hold onto in their lives.”
