THE CREDEAUX CANVAS

THE CREDEAUX CANVAS

Jamie, Winston and Amelia are trying to ‘make it’ in the big city. Just as they’re about to hit rock bottom, an opportunity arises that could mean an end to all their problems. In Keith Bunin’s dark comedy he asks, how far would you go to follow your dreams?

“We all saw something in each of the characters that resonated with us on a personal level,” explains Richard Cornally who plays businessman-wannabe, Jamie – a man willing to put his morals aside in order to get ahead. “There’s nothing too dear that won’t be thrown into the fire as he tries to achieve his goals.”

Jamie’s father, a successful art dealer, has just passed away and he uses his death as a way to sell fraudulent artworks.  It sounds grim, but Bunin is known for his biting humour. “I think [audiences] will laugh but essentially it’s a tragic story.”

“The writing is what drew us to the play in the first place,” he continues. “It’s beautiful, punchy, fast dialogue that goes straight to gut.”
