THE BURLESQUE EFFECT

THE BURLESQUE EFFECT

Are you after some theatre with tease and tassels? After three sell-out seasons of The Subtle Art of Flirting, award-winning playwright Wayne Tunk is back and this time he has made the most of the latest craze. The world premiere of The Burlesque Effect has come to the Newtown stage. Set in the 1950s, the play is centred around James: a straighty-one-eighty kind of a fellow who is married and living in the Sydney suburbs. When James is forced into the seductive Scarlet Lounge it seems the burlesque girls, in particular a beautiful dancer called Honey, have changed his life forever. Can James go back to his domestic lifestyle? Or is it time for him to embrace his hedonistic alter ego? Featuring top Burlesque numbers and a string of dancers ready to tantalise, The Burlesque Effect is sure to warm you up on these frosty nights. (ES)
