TERRAIN – THE WONDER OF LAKE EYRE

Terrain by Bangarra Dance Theatre is a captivating journey of spirit, people and country. The dance is inspired by the changing landscape of Lake Eyre which is evoked by light, music and movement. Choreographer Frances Rings is a sculptor who moulds her performers into the forms and shapes of the landscape. The performance is broken up into sections and a highlight is Spinifex which combines costume, design and dance to encapsulate the connection between spirit and trees. The music, a mix of traditional and modern, weaves through the cast occasionally catching a limb and producing a jerky, unexpected response. David Page’s score beautifully captures the sounds of the country and its inhabitants. It is an experience of wonder and delight.
