Marrickville stabber had been planning attack on family “for some time”

As Australia continues to confront horrifying levels of domestic violence, a man has been arrested for stabbing his mother and brother in their inner-west Sydney home in what police allege is a premeditated attack.
Speaking to the media, Detective Inspector Ben Kennis said “We will allege (the accused) had been planning this for some time.”
The stabbing attack occurred on Thursday afternoon on Sydenham Road in Marrickville. At around 6pm, paramedics arrived at the scene to find a 25-year-old man with wounds to his face, neck, head and back, and a 55-year-old woman with stab wounds to her throat.
Both were rushed to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, with the woman now in a stable condition and the man still fighting for his life.
22-year-old Jackyy Dang was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of causing wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder.
Detective Kennis said it was “quite a confronting scene”.
“This is a very serious domestic violence related incident. We take this very, very seriously and a brief of evidence will be prepared for the court.”
The family reportedly had no history of domestic violence.
The father of the family was home at the time of the attack, but was in the shower and didn’t hear the bloody events, being hard of hearing.
“I came out and everything was like a battle,” he told Nine News.
“I came out, I saw nothing, I saw all my family on the ground I don’t know what happened.”
