TELLING TALES

TELLING TALES

After a successful run in London including winning the London Time Out Critic’s Choice award, Telling Tales is about to make its Australian premiere. I caught up with the charming writer/director Clayton Buffoni who has described the play as passionate, playful, and human. “It’s about life and the compromises you make. The concept, ‘If only I had’ was constantly around me in the arts where people felt they had no reliability or security, but passion was there. It’s something that everyone can relate to and at some point must deal with no matter what their field.” Audiences can expect to see a series of monologues ranging from characters such as a Viking trapped in the body of an accountant, a dancer with an unresponsive body, and a demolition crane driver working for God. “Monologues uniquely allow a personal connection between performer and audience and you become part of the storytelling.  The audience response in London was fantastic. People had an intense connection with it. A lot was funny, and sometimes quite silly. It was quite unique and a lot of fun.”
