SYDNEY FRINGE: BLONDES IN THE WILD

Blonde Ambition presents Blondes in the Wild is a new choreographic production that delves into a taxonomical study of the introduced species known as the ‘Blonde’. The driving force behind this show are contemporary dance trio Ash Bee, Emma Maye Gibson and Samantha Parkinson, who previously won 2009’s Short, Sweet and Dance with their production, Blonde Ambition. “We would film ourselves on Sam’s phone doing ‘wild woman’ rituals before we’d walk on stage. Then we thought, ‘Blondes in the Wild,’ that sounds interesting, that’s something we should explore,” says Bee. From burlesque to grotesque (and even aerobics), Blondes in the Wild aims to provoke and takes a raw, feminist look at the role of woman amidst still-present social stigmas. “It’s just so ripe, so full of ideas that are relevant now. There’s not any talk about [the stigmas] because we just accept them” says Bee. The girls will be releasing their inner blonde in this evolutionary production (that may or may not feature chicken fillets at some point) in conjunction with the Sydney Fringe Festival.
