SUPERMODERN: DANCE OF DISTRACTION

SUPERMODERN: DANCE OF DISTRACTION

“It’s a collage of highly skilled accessible dance embodied by movement inspired by the fast pace multi-tasking  world we live in,” says choreographer Anton, a mononymic and strangely stern looking, bespectacled dancer, considering he has been lauded for his, “gorgeous plasticity” by The Australian. SuperModern: Dance of Distraction assembles performers Kristina Chan, Timothy Ohl, Robbie Curtis and Sophia Ndaba as well as composers Nick Wales, Jai Pyne and Timothy Constable in a high-paced homage to our unique modern frenzy. Considering Anton’s choreographic credits include filmclips for Mr Jigga, ads for Fanta and routines for the likes of Delta Goodrem and Jessica Mauboy, he will no doubt have an intriguing insight into the condition. For us, multi-tasking means feverishly switching between browser windows, checking the kids’ homework while catching up on My Kitchen Rules and texting while driving … what will it mean for dancers in 2012?
