SONGS FOR THE FALLEN
Marie Duplessis is the most well-known courtesan in history. Her story has been retold endless times in a variety of formats, but none would be as fast, fun and furious as this 75-minute show.
Cabaret star Sheridan Harbridge who plays Duplessis has written a farcical spectacle that takes its audience on a journey of corsets, pop music and lewd jokes. Harbridge is a pretty girl willing to make a clown out of herself and she absolutely nails it as Marie.
The sets and lights scream smutty decadence and bewitching debauchery, but underneath this hedonistic façade is a heart-wrenching reminder of the tribulations many women faced in the 19th Century.
