SINCE 1989 & WHAT IS SOIL EROSION?

Since 1989 – Tom Ballard

Comedian Tom Ballard’s new show Since 1989 take us through the his life so far, hilariously aided by his mum’s journal which covers the first 20 years of his life. We learn about the young Ballard’s mind-altering drug experiences, dermatological issues and of course his heart break over his split with that other Gen Y comedian Josh Thomas. Ballard is in complete control of his craft. His skill at delivering jokes, his self-deprecation and ability to take the piss out of the audience shows the mastery of someone beyond his years. His wit is searing and at times treads a very fine line between good and bad taste which makes him all the more exciting to watch.

What is Soil Erosion? – Claudia O’Doherty

What is Soil Erosion? is the staged presentation of the TV show no one will allow Claudia O’Doherty to make. It’s an absurd journey into the intricacies of the science of top soil erosion and is the second solo show from this remarkable comedienne (the other being Monsters of the Deep 3D). This is one of the most enjoyable, absurd and delightful comedies I have seen in a very long time. O’Doherty’s approach to comedy is reminiscent of those masters of the absurd, The Mighty Boosh. One thinks of a young Tracy Ullman when watching her because not only is she hysterically funny, but because this girl can act … which is a rare thing in comedy.
