Secondhand goodies galore

SecondHand Saturday returns to Quarry Green in Ultimo on September 20. About 50 local households will be clearing out their pre-loved clothing, bric-a-brac and household items, all ready to be snapped up by second hand treasure hunters.
Now in its eighth year, SecondHand Saturday is also introducing an e-waste drop off for unwanted electronic goods such as old computer monitors, keyboards and televisions. These will be sent to Reverse Garbage who are giving your dust-gathering electronics a new lease of life. It’s also a great way to prevent reusable items from ending up in landfill.
SecondHand Saturday strongly encourages reuse and recycling and it’s an ideal opportunity for local residents to discover more ways of helping the environment from representatives of The Bower, the Marrickville re-use centre, and Pyrmont Ultimo Landcare, a local group that reclaims waste land for native vegetation.
The City of Sydney Waste Education Unit will also be there, with helpful hints on reducing waste and setting up home composting. There will also be solar power experts from the Sydney Energy Cooperative showing how to cut carbon emissions.
The event is organised and presented by the Harris Community Centre and sponsored by the City of Sydney.
