Set in a world of Ashtrays and Heartbreaks (coincidentally a Snoop Lion song), this play masterly blends the dichotomy of innocence with vulgarity, acceptance with withdrawal, love with lust, civility with crime, and trust with infidelity.

Jackie (Troy Harrison), fresh out of rehab and a prison parolee, under the guidance of his sponsor Ralph D (John Atkinson) wants to iron out his life and settle down with his abusive, drug-addict, cheating girlfriend Veronica (Zoe Trilsbach). However, in-between their ‘true love’ mysteriously comes a hat. Van-Damme obsessed Jackie’s cousin, Julio (Nigel Turner-Carroll), and emotionally hurt Ralph’s wife Victoria (Megan O’Connell) round up this laugh-out-loud riot.

Love it or loathe it, you can’t deny its raw energy, as it sweeps you into the chaotic world of the characters with their powerhouse acting performances. Despite its drawbacks – a tad too long, not everyone’s cup of tea, and takes for assumption that all people are f**k-ups – it packs a wallop! If you can stand adding an exhaustive list of new swear and abusive words to your vocabulary, don’t miss it! (JR)
