PUNK ROCK

PUNK ROCK

Punk Rock, penned by British playwright Simon Stephens, is a powerful and eloquent theatre script. Brought to the stage by Pantsguys Productions and ATYP, this is compulsive and compelling viewing at its finest. Centred around teens in their final year at an upper middle class grammar school, the cast perfectly articulates the angst, rebelliousness and optimism of growing up in world that is far from ideal. Sam O’Sullivan delivers a riveting display of acting talent as the initially geeky then increasingly troubled William. Anthony Skuse’s concise and nuanced direction reinstates what excellent contemporary theatre should be. The messages and themes of the play speak of the human condition that exists beyond formal schooling.
