Playing for Peace: Armistice Flutes’ Album Launch To Raise Funds for Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
When we think of the sounds of protest music, drums, horns, guitars and chants yelled through megaphones are the first to come to mind. However, Armistice Flutes want us to know that their instrument of choice is just as powerful.
Sydney based flute quintet, The Armistice Flute Choir is a contemporary flute ensemble formed in 2025 and led by Australian/British composer and musician, Kenya Wilkins that’s mission statement is to use musical composition and spontaneous improvisation to promote a message of truce, hope, and global peace.
The ensemble is bringing this mission to Sydney on Sunday 14 June at The Flute Tree & Woodwind Group in Leichhardt where they will be performing live compositions from their debut album and raising funds for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF).
Armistice meaning truce, ceasefire or agreement, the project’s performances blend traditional Western classical techniques, experimental acoustics, and global folk elements to craft a deeply reflective atmosphere reflective of the tone and purpose of the ensemble.
