PETER PAN

Peter Pan is one of the most cherished children’s stories of all time. This whimsical tale is full of adventure that continues to delight both the young and young at heart.

Director Ralph Myers is taking audiences to Neverland with a twist. He has set this classic in a fresh setting – 1980s Aussie suburbia. Don’t expect the usual smoke and mirrors that seem to accompany the boy who will never grow up.

“We are going back to the idea that everything is invented through the mind and the necessity of play rather than through high production and theatrics,” explains actor Charlie Garber.

Garber is an old hat when it comes to Belvoir having performed in As You Like It and Neighbourhood Watch in 2011. Now he will step into the boots of the formidable Hook. “It’s a great character,” he says. “I’m really enjoying playing the villain … I’m not a child-hating kind of guy. You don’t have to empathise with a villain for them to be interesting.”

Myers has put together a stellar cast and in the lead is Meyne Wyatt (Griffin’s Silent Disco and The Sapphires) who won Best Newcomer at the 2012 Sydney Theatre Awards.
