PAUL KELLY – SPRING AND FALL

Quite frankly I can’t believe he’s moved on to a new love so soon after waxing lyrically about his former partner in A-Z, and I know it’s none of my business, but I am nosey, and when the opening song talks so starkly about undressing someone, it’s hard not to wonder at the real-life tales behind the songs. Still, Kelly just nails it, time and again, so simply sometimes you can overlook his poetic expertise. ‘Little Aches and Pains’ says it all and the sparse, warm, back-to basics production (props to J. Walker) seems to permeate the air around you and give you a hug. (TE, CP)
