MY PRIVATE PARTS: AN INSIDE VIEW OF FERTILISATION

After her own experience with IVF, writer and performer Deborah Thomson saw in the subject a comedy gold mine: describing it as, “theatrical and funny.”

She hopes that her story will intrigue some of those who might not normally go to the theatre, although Thomson is careful to point out that her intent is not to mock this increasingly common way of having children. Rather, it is to portray a truthful and humanised tale of her own experience: where, “truth is stranger than fiction.”

With the help of fellow actor Lucy Miller and a three-piece band, My Private Parts promises to be an entertaining and thought-provoking night out. With some members of the audience, “coming out and admitting to IVF” themselves after shows already, it is clearly, ahem, fertile ground for discussion.
