LOOT

LOOT

Fans of British humour rejoice, The Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Loot directed by Richard Cottrell, captures the dark and silly side of UK society gone askew.

This morality tale from the 1960s is a comedy about the culture of corruption in the British police force.

Orton, who was a promiscuous and openly gay man, was actively persecuted by the police.

Overtly sexual, frivolous and anti-establishment, the characters in the play capture the freedom struggle of the swinging 60s.

William Zappa, Caroline Craig, Robin Goldsworthy, Josh McConville, Darren Gilshenan and Lee Jones, are a pleasure to watch, with strong performances from all.

A cleverly crafted set pays tribute to the era while aiding the actors to bring this farcical production to life.

Loot, is entertaining, well-produced theatre, which most will love, but those who cringed during Monty Python or The Office (UK version), will probably find Loot, a tad too cockney for their taste.
