Irish Film Festival
Film Festival enthusiasts are able to watch the largest program of Irish films to date in the comfort of their homes this year, as The 6th Irish Film Festival returns virally owing to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.
“We are delighted to be presenting great Irish stories online to an Australian audience. It’s a tough time for the Irish diaspora, many of whom have missed trips home this year and I hope the Irish Film Festival can bring Gaelic sunshine to Australia in these dark times,” enthused Festival Director, Dr Enda Murray.
Two films which should prove popular are the comedy Extra Ordinary which is about a driving instructor (stars comedian Maeve Higgins) who possesses supernatural powers and Rialto, an IFTA award-winning drama starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Mark O’Halloran.
There is a program of short films screening which were entries in The Irish Diaspora Short Film Competition. The competition encouraged people with Irish backgrounds to submit their migration stories on film.
Viewers can also tune into online Q&A’s with the film’s directors and surprise guests. (MMo)
