HUMAN INTEREST STORY

HUMAN INTEREST STORY

If you’re not up to date on your contemporary dance, there are a couple of companies worth checking out. One of the most exciting is Lucy Guerin Inc, which beautifully melds together dance, theatre and spoken word into visually stunning and totally surprising works. Forget the well-trodden subjects of love and relationships – these productions deal with current affairs, personal crises, and life choices. Fresh from a critically acclaimed Melbourne season, their latest production Human Interest Story opens this week at Belvoir. This time, dance is used to explore the power of the media – the whirr of broadsheets, the beeping of Twitter notifications and the blaring of the television. With set design by Gideon Obarzanek, head of Chunky Move, this promises to be a visually fascinating show. Before you run out to grab your tickets, the sad news is it’s already sold out. Seats will be released at the box office from 9.30am daily, but must be picked up in person. If you’re up for a good story, you won’t regret it. (NL)
