What to do on a Saturday afternoon in Woolloomooloo’ A group of local children aged four to 10 have been turning up regularly at the Juanita Neilsen Centre for workshops which covered the five elements of hip hop ‘ rapping, DJing, beat-boxing, break dancing and graffiti art.

The Woolo Kids as they dub themselves have written rhymes, recorded five songs and created stage routines which got a showing last week at Plunkett St School’s Christmas party.

‘Young people are comfortable using hip hop and culture to create narratives about their own lives,’ said local hip hop artist and workshop leader, Choo Choo.

And that they did, finding great ways to scan the word ‘Woolloomooloo’ into a beat.
