GREASE IS THE WORD

When asked about the charisma needed to play leading man Danny in Grease is the Word: The Musical, Rob Mills shrugs it off.

“I’m just being me I suppose. The last 15 years of my life I’ve been onstage. You get more confident about who you are during that.”

That confidence has been finely honed since he was a finalist in the 2003 Australian Idol series. It’s been a busy time since then for Mills, 31, who never thought he could sing full time; from releasing an album, then a tour, hosting Young Talent Time on TV last year, playing the lead role in Wicked onstage and a supporting role in Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Grease is the Word is billed as the number one party musical that everyone can relate to.

“The songs in the show are so much fun, energetic and fast-paced, featuring all the unforgettable songs from the hit movie. Everyone in the audience sings along,” says Mills, relishing the role made famous by John Travolta in the iconic film.

Mills is joined by Gretel Scarlett as Sandy – the one that Danny wants – in this musical extravaganza. (MS)
