FIND ME A LAWYER

FIND ME A LAWYER

“Mayhem, madness and nonsense,” is how Bondi writer/producer/lawyer Tony Laumburg describes his latest play Find Me A Lawyer. The story follows Marty Fish, a man who is fresh out of luck. His wife is leaving him, he is in debt a million dollars, and the keynote speaker for his prestigious legal conference has turned up with memory loss. “I’ve always loved the original Mel Brooks film The Producers,” Laumberg tells me. “It’s a film about a sure-fire scheme that couldn’t go wrong and I wanted to do my own version.” The play sees him teamed up again with Kings Cross director Richard Cotter. The two have done 11 plays together in a span of nine years. Laumberg, who tends to use his legal background as inspiration for his work, enjoys bringing humour to his shows. “I love taking lawyers and putting them in different situations. I write to entertain and I want people to laugh and with this show, audiences are going to have a bloody good time.”
