Dream Home

Dream Home

In an idealistic world, everyone wants to move into his or her stable home and live the perfect life with perfect surroundings. However, in the up-and-coming production, by David Williamson, things are not always what they seem.

Williamson takes a spin on the idealistic lifestyle of a perfect couple and turns their lives around with an ex-lover, jealous husband and kleptomaniacs for neighbours.

Justin Stewart Cotta, who plays Sam, one of the neighbours, just finished the production of Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. “Sam is a character who is like a lion from Lebanon, someone who is a neighbour from hell,” Cotta explains. “And his personality reflects his insecurity about his position in society. This is a nice transition playing a murderous barber to a nightclub manager.”

David Williamson is a well-known playwright for Australian theatre. “This is the first time that I have worked with David Williamson,” Cotta says. “I’ve performed in The Removalist and Let the Sunshine. The script for Dream Home is well written and will definitely have the audience laughing. Williamson has definitely got a laidback attitude but he knows exactly what he wants with this comedy.” (EV)
