What a triumphant return for Circus 1903! The show that began life in Sydney back in 2016 has lost none of its original dazzle and charm – in fact it’s more thrilling and spectacular than ever.

Hearkening back to the days of yore, when a travelling circus was the epitome of entertainment, Circus 1903 captures the electric atmosphere, the broad family appeal, even the visual aesthetic, but without the sawdust, tent poles, and most importantly, live animals.

David Williamson is the commensurate ringleader – charismatic, witty, confident. His engagement with the audience and narration between acts add a magical element to the show.

The acts themselves are each breath-taking. From The Daring Desafios from Sweden who perform incredible aerial manoeuvres on the teeter board to Germany’s David Schnabel who rides a bike in every way possible except simply sitting on the saddle.

There’s the aptly named Remarkable Risleys whose act involves one person flipping the other over and over on his legs; The Great Gaston who is possibly the fastest juggler you’ll ever see; contortionist, The Elastic Dislocationist who will convince you she is an invertebrate, and many more incredible performers.

A highlight of the show is the appearance of Queenie, the life-sized elephant puppet whose movements are uncannily realistic, and Peanut, the little puppet elephant with a big personality.

This is a wonderful show, the kind that fills an auditorium with palpable joy. Limited season. Don’t miss it!

Until December 29
