Christmas at Town Hall returning with new organist

Christmas at Town Hall returning with new organist

Christmas at Town Hall will be returning once again to the CBD, taking place on 20 December. Acting as the City of Sydney’s Festive night of nights, Christmas at Town Hall is a family friendly event that brings together a wide array of performers and acts to add to the already feverish levels of Christmas spirit brewing in the city centre.

The night will feature a dazzling line-up of choirs, soloists, orchestras and more. Event staples, the NSW Police Orchestra, will also feature.

Perhaps the biggest drawcard this year, however, will be the debut Christmas at Town Hall for the historic site’s new organist, Titus Grenyer. The 25-year-old musician is replacing the legendary Robert Ampt, whose 44-year run in the role ended last Christmas.

Ampt, who took up the role in 1978, helped revive a role that had been left vacant for 40 years. But fear not, Titus, whilst young, is already a formidable musician himself. Having learnt his craft at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and honed it at the Wollongong Town Hall, Titus ensures that Sydney’s iconic, 133-year-old set of pipes are in very good hands.
