BOX – BRIDGETTE – BRACKEN

BOX – BRIDGETTE – BRACKEN

B stands for: Box, Bridgette, Bracken. Also, bleakness, brutality, and bliss. Milk Crate Theatre is Australia’s leading theatre company working with people who have experienced homelessness and marginalisation. A 2010 project entitled Intersection found participants and actors (many of them, first-timers) roving the streets of inner-city Sydney, visiting homeless hotspots and enacting literally and metaphorically the sensation of being at life’s ‘crossroads.’ Rob, a recovering alcoholic, told this newspaper at the time that the experience made him feel: “Euphoric.” But back to those mysterious Bs. Box – Bridgette – Bracken is Milk Crate’s latest devised work and is comprised of three short works exploring the flaws and fortunes of humanity. For one Saturday only you can see the shows for free at CarriageWorks, although another B will be essential: bookings. (AB)
