AVENUE Q

From fan made video dubs, to quizzical murmurs on the Broadway musical scene, Avenue Q has finally reached us here Down Under, and it is not to be missed. Following the life experiences of the residents of Avenue Q, this puppet show not only parodies human (and muppet) life, but also hits some home truths square on – showing us through the reflective surface of song, the nature of the human condition in all its facets. Avenue Q’s live cast of flesh and blood thespians and fur-clad puppets interact between themselves and with the audience smoothly, making for a musical experience one is able to follow and thoroughly enjoy, despite its technical complexity. Politically incorrect, viciously true and undeniably funny, Avenue Q will have you humming disturbing show tunes for days afterwards – which is fine … just stay away from those sock puppet ideas.
