AUSTRALIAN POETRY SLAM

SLAM stands for Stories, Lyrics and Monologues and this year’s Australian Poetry Slam final promises to deliver plenty, fresh and steaming to the Sydney Theatre Stage. Hosted by spoken word artist Miles Merrill and with $11,000 in the prize booty – including a trip to the Ubud Festival and China Bookworms Festival – the finalists from all Australian states will surely have plenty to spit, scream, croon and cram into two minutes on the topic Write a Revolution. Last year’s winner was Kelly-lee Hickey – whose words will reign supreme this year? (AB)
