The scenic Royal Botanic Gardens will be home to Astronomy at the Calyx, a beautiful night of astronomy and stargazing. Garden resident and First Nations astronomer and astrophysicist Dr Ángel Lopez – Sanchez will join experts in guiding visitors on a journey through the night sky.

The astronomy night is a chance to learn about all of the interesting planets out there, including the 4,000 that have been discovered. The Northern Sydney Astronomical Society will also set up powerful telescopes, allowing for personal discoveries into the world beyond Earth.

Selected astronomer presenters will go into depth about all things space, including space volcanoes and dark energy. Educator Drew Roberts will then provide audiences with an Aboriginal perspective on the stars, utilising the telescopes.

An added bonus to the event is a complimentary glass of wine included in the ticket price, with light snacks available for purchase.

Sit back, relax, and listen to how the astronomers detect exoplanets and other stars, all while taking in the green environmental atmosphere.
