It is such a Christmas institution that it’s hard to believe there was ever a time when it didn’t happen. The annual Carols in the Domain celebrates its 40th anniversary tonight with a stellar line-up and lots of surprises.

Hosted by Natalie Barr and David Koch from Channel 7’s Sunrise, and presented by Woolworths, Carols in the Domain 2022 features carols, Christmas-themed songs, and inspirational tunes by names that are bigger than a smile on Christmas morning: The Wiggles, Samantha Jade, Leo Sayer,  Mark Vincent, Todd McKenney, Rhonda Burchmore, Rachael Beck, Paulini, and many more.  Plus, an extra special guest appearance via satellite by Andrea Bocelli who will perform Away in A Manger in a beautiful duet with his daughter, Virginia.

The event helps raise funds for The Salvation Army’s Oasis Youth Support Network through the sale of candle bags. Volunteers will be roaming through the crowd, selling the $20 bags packed with donated goodies (valued at $100). Money raised goes to Oasis services which helps provide crisis accommodation for youth sleeping rough or in inadequate conditions.

Patrons hold safety (battery-operated) candles.

Entry to the Domain is free and patrons will be allowed in from 1pm today. There are fabulous food and drink trucks, activities and entertainment, and lots of festive atmosphere.

The entire concert will be recorded and then broadcast on December 23 on the 7 Network.
