If the pen truly is mightier than the sword then this group of writers are lethal killers. The best crime authors in the business will gather under the roof of the State Library of NSW for the annual BAD Sydney Crime Writers  Festival this month.

A packed three-day program will feature guest speakers including writers, reporters and film-makers, and professionals from the justice system such as detectives, judges and psychologists.

Among the A-list presenters will be Gary Jubelin, the gritty, determined homicide detective who achieved fame (and infamy) during his 34 year career, much of which he shares in his new book, Badness, co-authored by Dan Box.

Jubelin, was involved in very high profile cases including the disappearance of William Tyrrell, the serial killing of three Aboriginal children in Bowraville, and the murderer Jeffrey Hillsley.  He ran the crime scene following the Lindt Cafe siege, investigated the death of Caroline Byrne and recovered the body of Matthew Leveson.

Jubelin will present the The 2022 Danger Prize on Friday 9 September for a book (fiction or non-fiction) featuring Australia as a setting for stories about crime and justice.
