WINDMILL BABY

WINDMILL BABY

A red dust station in the heart of outback Australia sets the scene for this moving one woman play about loss, life and grief on an outback cattle farm.

Windmill Baby tells the story of a dangerous love affair between the boss’ wife and an Aboriginal man, through the eyes of Maymay, an Aboriginal woman who returns to the camp as an old woman. Maymay recounts the stories of the eleven characters that lived on the station, their joys, their grief and the day to day existence of a time long gone.

Roxanne McDonald gives a stellar performance as Maymay. She brings energetic life to each character while remaining the ever engaging, interactive story teller.

An intimate theatre and rustic set design instantly evokes the past, leaving you captivated for the hour long performance.

Directed by Kylie Farmer and written by David Milroy, this is a play for all tastes and ages.

Until Aug 21, Belvoir Downstairs Theatre,  Belvoir St, Surry Hills, from $32, belvoir.com.au
