What To See At This Year’s Sydney Comedy Festival

The Sydney Comedy Festival is in full swing for the year, and as the midway point of the festival approaches there’s still plenty of laughs yet to be had. Here’s a couple of suggestions to chuckle across the next few weeks of the festival.
Lucille MacKellar Has Boy Problems by Lucille MacKellar, May 3rd and 4th
Following its debut at Sydney Fringe Festival 2024, where we described it as “hilariously unhinged”, Lucille MacKellar has been travelling across Australia with her hilarious comedy show/presentation Lucille MacKellar Has Boy Problems.
Beginning as the tale of Lucille’s coming out as a lesbian, the show tackles a wide range of topics across its short runtime while also getting to the heart of issues with the world, like the monopolisation of our attention spans.
Part-TED talk and part-sidesplitter, Lucille MacKellar Has Boy Problems is surely one of the most thoughtfully hilarious shows at this year’s festival.
ENDHOE by Anna Dooley, May 14th to 16th
Winner of multiple awards and returning to Australia after lighting up Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Anna Dooley’s ENDHOE takes you on a journey inside the comedian to illuminate what it’s like to have endometriosis.
With over 40 hospital visits and four surgeries in her repertoire, Anna’s story is uniquely hers and has been described as a “meticulously crafted performance” that strikes a balance between being funny and moving.
ENDHOE has one of the most unique premises of any show at the 2025 SCF, and is sure to rack up more acclaim in this Sydney season. Be advised there are mentions of infertility and self-harm in this show.
Nothing To Declare by Fady Kassab 14th to 16th
Fady Kassab is well-known for his stand-up sets on TV and opening for acts like Bassem Youssef and Jim Jefferies, but this year’s Sydney Comedy Festival gives you the chance to see the 5-star rated comedian on his very own terms.
The Lebanese-born comedian is debuting his new comedy show at the Festival, where he’s decided he does in fact have something to declare. It’s looking like an hour of honesty…
See why Fady was the triple j RAW Comedy winner all those years ago with his singular mix of comedy and commentary.
Thomas Bleach Builds A Boyfriend by Thomas Bleach, May 10th and 11th
After moving to Sydney from the small country town called Brisbane, Thomas Bleach has tried it all to find a boyfriend. So now, he’s going to build one… live on stage!
This special debuted at the Sydney Fringe Festival in 2024 and is getting a new coat of paint for this year’s Sydney Comedy Festival. Thomas is also known for BLEACHED: The Podcast, and his previous outing This Show’s Not About You.
Just don’t confuse his new venture ‘Build-A-Boyfriend’ with Build-A-Bear, okay?
