The NSW Government says more than $284 million has been returned to motorists through its $60 weekly toll cap scheme, with Sydney drivers being urged to check whether they are eligible to claim further rebates.
Under the program, eligible motorists who spend more than $60 a week on tolls can claim back toll costs above that threshold, up to a maximum rebate of $340 per week for each tag or licence plate number linked to a personal toll account.
According to the NSW Government, more than 862,000 claims have been lodged since the scheme began in January 2024, with Western Sydney suburbs among the biggest beneficiaries. Blacktown, Auburn, Baulkham Hills and Merrylands have each claimed more than $4 million in relief.
Premier Chris Minns said the program was aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures.
“We made the $60 weekly toll cap permanent, which means drivers don’t get hit with those big, unpredictable toll bills, it puts money back in people’s pockets and gives some certainty week to week,” Minns said.
The government said more than $100 million in toll relief remains unclaimed for 2025.
Claims are lodged quarterly through the Service NSW website. Current claim periods include toll spending from 5 January 2026 to 5 April 2026, with claims opening from 9 April 2026, while the next round covering 6 April 2026 to 5 July 2026 opens on 9 July 2026.
To be eligible, motorists must be NSW residents with an active personal toll account through providers including Linkt or E-Toll, and must link that account to their MyServiceNSW account. The scheme only applies to personal trips in privately registered vehicles.
Eligible toll roads include the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Harbour Tunnel, WestConnex, Hills M2, Lane Cove Tunnel and Cross City Tunnel. Airport tolls, toll notices, account fees and business travel are excluded.
Customer Service Minister Jihad Dib said motorists should check whether they have unclaimed rebates available.
“You can now claim rebates for every quarter of your toll spend from last year so if you’re regularly travelling on toll roads, I encourage you to visit the Service NSW website to make a claim,” Dib said.
