THEATRE: HOW TO HANDLE A FRACTURED HEART

THEATRE: HOW TO HANDLE A FRACTURED HEART

Billing itself as a, “theatrical guide to humanity’s oldest wound,” How to Handle a Fractured Heart is the latest production by the Ever After Theatre Company, Sydney’s longest running ensemble of those living with disabilities. It’s a perspective we don’t often get to hear about, let alone see. Ever After began in a coffee shop when the mother of a child with disabilities got together with Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre and community workers, and identified a need to encourage creativity, confidence and movement amongst those with intellectual disabilities. Since then, they’ve successfully delivered 12 performances, including at the acclaimed Awakenings Festival in Victoria. How to Handle a Fractured Heart is their take on relationships, spirituality and the subconscious – with, of course, broken hearts galore … plus some fortune tellers and a diva or two. All in all, definitely something we can handle.
