THE IMITATION GAME

THE IMITATION GAME

The Imitation Game is a stylish and engrossing thriller based on actual events during World War II. The film surrounds Alan Turing, an English Mathematician and logician whose cryptanalyst skills helped crack the enigma code (decode German naval communications) during World War II.  His achievements incredibly shortened the war by two years and saved an estimated two million lives.

A brilliant script and wonderful ensemble cast led by Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing and Keira Knightley as his love interest Joan Clarke bring this extraordinary story to life.

The film is humorous and poignant at times as it progresses through the high and low periods of Turing’s life. His troubled years at boarding school, the success of his electro-mechanical invention which broke 3000 enigma codes a day and his tragic post-war decline in which his homosexuality resulted in a charge of gross indecency.

The Imitation Games contains no war action but is fast paced and complemented by archival footage and a magnificent score. (MMo)
