The Credeaux Canvas

The Credeaux Canvas

Keith Budin’s The Credeaux Canvas takes place in the art scene of New York’s Greenwich Village, and first debuted nearly fifteen years ago – and yet, says co-producer Bryce Hallett, it has perhaps never been quite so timely. “It’s about people in their twenties, and that time of their lives when they feel as though they are entitled to be a bit closer to their notion of success than they actually are,” he explains, adding that the play asks the immortal question many young creative find themselves faced with out there in the real world: “How do you keep your integrity and go about pursuing dreams?

It’s no surprise then that Hallett anticipates this particular production will resonate most strongly with a younger audience. “The focus will be on drawing extremely credible and persuasive performances and to have it burn quite vividly for an audience as they draw you into this amazing sort of poetic realism,” says Hallett.

He promises also that the play will challenge audiences, noting that, “To the bloody end you will be starting to evaluate what your values are, spiritually, artistically and so forth as you make your way in the world.” If you’re a fan of intelligent, reflective theatre, this is your can’t miss show of the season.
