THE COMPANY YOU KEEP

THE COMPANY YOU KEEP

A former member of a radical terrorist group turns herself in after 30 years. Determined to uncover the truth, a young journalist Ben (Shia LaBeouf) discovers the whereabouts of another member, Jim Grant (Robert Redford). With the FBI drawing closer, Grant is forced to leave his daughter in search of the one person who can clear his name.

This film could have been quite compelling and poignant, but the product is disappointing overall. Redford is stale as the lead and it is a wonder why he felt it necessary to not only direct but also star. There are a few good moments, particularly scenes involving Susan Sarandon, but the complex plot is unravelled clumsily and the ending overly sentimentalised. (ATS)
