Sydney Opera House announces a new series of innovative digital works
A new season of Outlines, a provocative showcase of artists and their works, has been announced by the Sydney Opera House. The upcoming season comprises a range of digital works that will be presented to audiences on Stream, the Opera House’s viewing platform for digital and performing arts.
Outlines features Australian and worldwide digital events that celebrate artists, technologists, and visionaries that push the boundaries of modern technology. Each work is original and questions various practices including motion-capture, artificial intelligence, machine learning, 3D animation and experimental film techniques.

The Head of Digital Programming at the Opera House, Stuart Buchanan, has previously described the innovative technology in Outlines as having a “lasting impact on our culture”. Buchanan has also stated that contemporary artists “erase boundaries between digital and physical environments at an ever-increasing rate”.
A total of eight technological events in the second season of Outlines will be available to stream. The collection of events range from screenings, powerpoints and Q&As to artist conversations and explorations of works.

The Binary World screening showcases two dancers from Sydney and Hong Kong that come together for a motion-capture performance. The screening provides an audio-visual experience for audiences and draws on Buddhist philosophy, anime aesthetics, video games and internet culture.
American pop group, YACHT, and their lead singer Claire L Evans, will discuss their new documentary film that experiments with artificial intelligence. Electronic musician, Alexis Weaver, and creative producer, Kopi Su, will also uncover artificial intelligence tools used in the creative process of live performance.

Digital artist and choreographer, Harrison Hall, will work in collaboration with various artists to present two works combining music, dance and 3D animation. Six Australian digital artists also work together to commission new works for a platform titled Shortwave.
Creators Xanthe Dobbie and Harriet Gilles will live stream a queer performance of software technology with guest speakers. The film, TRACES, will document a First Nations led audio experience, featuring a digital voice-to-art installation based on Indigenous illustrations.

The final event in Outlines is an Australian innovative artist, futurist, and curator discussion panel. Each spokesperson will investigate and challenge ever changing technology, art and culture.
Outlines will be FREE to stream from July 12 —16 at
