Mardi Gras has come and gone, beach days are dwindling, and Vivid is still two months away. It seems the only thing on in Sydney right now is the Royal Easter Show, which, you could go to… only animal hair makes you sneezey, and you’d rather not trek out to Sydney Olympic park just to spend $20 on a Cadbury showbag you could have assembled yourself in Woolies.

So, without further ado, here are three cool things on in Sydney this month that aren’t the Royal Easter Show:

Waranara: First Nations Tour @ the Australian Museum

Peruse the Australian Museum’s rare Indigenous collections as a First Nations guide reveals the often untold histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. This unique experience is available every Wednesday and Saturday.

Tickets are $25, though member, child, and concession discounts apply.

Ovata Sundays @ Arturo’s Rooftop

For just two more Sundays, the iconic Arturo’s Rooftop overlooking Elisabeth Bay will co-host, alongside Premier Yarra Valley sparkling label Ovata, an evening of cocktails, canapes, and DJs under the stars.

The 1.5 hour luxury experience is $75 per person and will end on April 12, so don’t miss out.

Tour & High Tea @ NSW Parliament House, Sydney

Did you know that NSW Parliament House is not only the oldest public building in Sydney, but that most Fridays you can have tea there? This curated package at $75 per person includes a tour of the historic building at 11:30AM, followed by a High Tea hosted at Stranger’s Restaurant inside Parliament House at 12:30PM, complete with tumbling dry ice and a mix of sweet and savoury delights.

Honourable mentions include a Crock’d beginners pottery class, a stroll through the gorgeous harbourside Chinese Garden of Friendship, or if you’re totally broke, you could always just look up. We hear the Lyrids Meteor shower is supposed to look pretty nifty in Sydney skies from the 21st of April.

And, if you’re still at a loss for ideas, I guess you could always just…I don’t know…go to the Easter Show.
